Transcriptomics, a strategic tool to address current questions in toxicology

The study of the transcriptome has become a common tool to evaluate the impact of various stimuli on biological systems. By measuring the abundance of thousands of transcripts simultaneously via DNA chips (microarrays) or via NGS sequencing (next generation sequencing), it is possible to reveal regulations of specific genes as well as to highlight coordinated modulations of sets of genes involved in the same pathway or biological function.
