Research Director (DR2) INRAE - PhD, HDR
ENTeRisk Team Leader
Leader of the ENTeRisk team, Eric Houdeau joined INRA in 1997 in the Animal Physiology Department (Jouy-en-Josas Center) before joining the Toulouse Center in 2003. With a background in physiology, endocrinology and neuroscience, he studied the hormonal control of intestinal barrier function (regulation of epithelial permeability and the inflammatory response by estrogens) before setting up several research projects on endocrine disruptors in food, in particular bisphenol A (BPA) (INRA press 2010: http://www.inra.fr/Entreprises-Monde-agricole/Resultats-innovation-transfert/Toutes-les-actualites/action-du-Bisphenol-A) (INRA press 2014: http://presse.inra.fr/Communiques-de-presse/Bisphenol-A-et-intolerance-alimentaire-un-lien-etabli-pour-la-premiere-fois). Since 2013, he has been developing national and international collaborative programs in nanotoxicology focusing on the fate and effects in the intestine of nanoparticles used in the agri-food sector (model nanoparticles, food additives with nanosized fractions, for example titanium dioxide E171) (INRA press 2017: http://presse.inra.fr/Communiques-de-presse/Additif-alimentaire-E171).
