SAVIGNAC Jean-Marie

MS engineer

Jean-Marie was recruited in 2025 after working for seven years in the private sector and completing a PhD in organismal biology and metabolomics. His research project focuses on the development of bioinformatics tools for metabolomics and exposomics studies, within the framework of the European PARC project. In parallel, he conducts projects involving the analysis of xenobiotic metabolites in biofluids as part of the study of the internal chemical exposome.

MS and NMR engineer

Léa joined the AXIOM team in 2024 to develop the integrated approach using NMR and mass spectrometry. She is in charge of metabolomics projects using NMR and mass spectrometry, from sample preparation to metabolite annotation, including NMR and LC/MS analyses and statistical data processing.

PERION Théo

MS engineer

Théo joined the AXIOM team in 2023 after completing a Master's degree in Environmental Chemistry and Chemical Ecology at the University of Perpignan. As a research engineer specialized in mass spectrometry, he oversees the entire analytical process in metabolomics by mass spectrometry, from sample preparation to metabolite annotation, including LC/MS analyses and statistical data processing.

GUIBERT Julien

Biostatistics engineer

Julien joined the team in February 2024 as a bioinformatics research engineer. He is currently working on developing a software tool for the automatic integration of 2D NMR spectra signals, aiming to facilitate and standardize their analysis.

REMY Carla

NMR PhD student

Carla joined the AXIOM team in November 2023 as a PhD student under the supervision of Cécile Canlet, Laurent Debrauwer and Erwan Engel. Her thesis focuses on the identification of biomarkers following low-dose exposure to PolyChloroBiphenyls (PCBs) in chickens using a metabolomics approach with two-dimensional NMR and a volatolomics approach with mass spectrometry.

ORLANDI Carla

MS PhD student

Carla joined the AXIOM team in 2019 after completing a Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation. She worked for three years as a research engineer on HRMS and NMR metabolomics projects. Since 2022, her PhD project, supervised by Emilien Jamin and Laurent Debrauwer, focuses on the development of methodologies inspired by mass spectrometry-based metabolomics approaches for the chemical attribution of chlorpyrifos from multiple synthesis pathways. Carla is vice-president of the young scientists' club of the French Society for Mass Spectrometry (SFSM).

AMRINE Khansa

MS PhD student

Khansa joined the AXIOM team in 2024 as a PhD student, under the supervision of Olivier Laprévote and Laurent Debrauwer. Her thesis focuses on exploring different ion activation modes in tandem mass spectrometry, with the aim of optimizing structural information and the level of identification in metabolomics and exposomics.

JOUANIN Isabelle

Organic synthesis and NMR engineer

Isabelle was recruited in 1998 to the INRAE ​​xenobiotics laboratory. As an organic chemist, she contributes to the research of the Toxalim teams with her expertise in organic synthesis. Since 2016, she has also provided services in metabolomics using NMR on the Axiom platform.

GAUTIER Roselyne

Sample preparation technician

Roselyne was recruited by INRAE ​​in 1987 and joined the AXIOM team in 2008, where she is responsible for preparing biological samples before their NMR analysis. In 2018, Roselyne took charge of developing sample preparation using the Tecan robot.

TREMBLAY-FRANCO Marie

Statistics engineer

After completing her PhD in Applied Statistics (University of Toulouse, 2004), Marie Tremblay-Franco was recruited as a Hospital Engineer in the Medical Information Department of the Montpellier University Hospital to pursue studies in health economics. She joined the AXIOM INRAE ​​analytical chemistry platform in 2010 as a statistical engineer. Since 2022, she has been a Research Engineer. She develops statistical methods for analyzing metabolomics data, focusing particularly on integration methods.

FEREY Justine

MS imaging engineer

Justine completed a PhD in analytical chemistry at the Institute of Organic and Analytical Chemistry at the University of Orléans, during which she developed innovative analytical tools based on mass spectrometry for monitoring enzyme-ligand interactions in the field of health. She then carried out her postdoctoral research at the COBRA laboratory (Rouen) to implement mass spectrometry imaging methodology. In this continuity, she was then hired by the Rouen University Hospital to apply her work to biological topics such as brain tumor studies, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, ovarian cancer, etc. Justine joined the AXIOM team in 2020. In charge of the mass spectrometry imaging activity, she leads methodological development projects in this field and carries out spatially resolved metabolomics projects.

CHEVOLLEAU Sylvie

Separation technics and MS engineer

Holding a PhD in analytical chemistry (University of Marseille, 1990), Sylvie joined the "Xenobiotics" unit (now Toxalim) in 1991. Since the creation of the AXIOM team, she has been developing and implementing sample preparation and chromatographic separation methods, coupled with mass spectrometry for targeted or semi-targeted analyses in metabolomics and exposomics. These approaches are applied to the identification and quantification of xenobiotics and their metabolites at trace levels in complex biological matrices. Sylvie is an active member of AFSEP, serving as treasurer of the South-West club, and co-organizes several annual thematic days specializing in the field of separation analytical techniques.

DEBRAUWER Laurent

MS engineer

Laurent was recruited to INRAE as a research engineer (IR) in 1990 after completing a PhD in organic chemistry and mass spectrometry (MS) in 1989 (Univ. Aix-Marseille) and a postdoctoral fellowship (Prof. JC Tabet, Univ. Paris 6). He developed original methods based on MS that he actively helped introduce and disseminate within the TOXALIM Unit and INRA. His work earned him the INRAE “Technological Innovation for Research” award in 2015. He founded the AXIOM team in 2004 and has played a major role in building and leading certified technological platforms (Metatoul, MetaboHUB, France Exposome) and in disseminating the Unit’s results through numerous publications and presentations. Recently appointed honorary member of the French Society for Mass Spectrometry, he continues his work on innovative uses of MS (ion production/activation) in the service of metabolomics and exposomics.

JAMIN Emilien

Team co-head

MS engineer

Emilien studied mass spectrometry under Professor Jean-Claude Tabet before beginning a PhD in mass spectrometry applied to food toxicology under the supervision of Laurent Debrauwer, which he defended in 2007. His work focused on the development of a quantification method using metastable atom bombardment ionization and on the characterization of covalent DNA adducts from heterocyclic aromatic amines. He joined the AXIOM team immediately after his PhD in 2007, where he develops and applies mass spectrometry methods in toxicology for the analysis and identification of xenobiotics, their biotransformation products, and metabolites in general, whether known or unknown. In 2016, Emilien took on the operational management of the team’s mass spectrometry activity, before becoming co-director of the team in 2023. On behalf of the team, Emilien is a member of the national metabolomics and fluxomics infrastructure MetaboHUB, and represents INRAE within the national exposomics infrastructure France Exposome.

CANLET Cécile

Team co-head

NMR engineer

Cécile was recruited in 2001 to set up NMR in the laboratory and develop NMR-based metabolomics. She joined the AXIOM team in 2004, where she develops and applies NMR methods for the metabolomic analysis of biological fluids and tissues. In 2016, Cécile took over the operational management of the team's NMR activity, before becoming co-director in 2023. Cécile also became deputy director of the MetaToul platform in 2023.
