CABATON Nicolas
Nicolas, a biologist by training, earned his PhD in Food Science, specializing in Toxicology, at the University of Burgundy (Dijon), under the supervision of Professors JC Lhuguenot and MC Chagnon. His research focused on the distribution, metabolism, and toxic effects of Bisphenol F at low doses. He then completed a first postdoctoral fellowship at Tufts University in Boston (MA, USA) in the laboratory of Professors Ana Soto and Carlos Sonnenschein, where he investigated the toxic mechanisms of action of bisphenol A on fertility, fecundity, and mammary gland development. His second postdoctoral position was at the INRA "Xenobiotics" unit, supervised by J.P. Cravedi and D. Zalko. There, he studied the metabolism of food and environmental contaminants in HepaRG cells, as well as the effects of these contaminants on the endogenous metabolism of these cells using a metabolomic approach. In 2011, Nicolas was recruited in Toxalim to study the role of metabolic bioactivation in the toxic mechanisms of action of food contaminants, particularly endocrine disruptors. He joined TIM and now focuses on the effects of environmental and food endocrine disruptors, as well as the role of endogenous molecular actors in the development of metabolic diseases.
